Should You Kill, Persuade Natan, or Betray Rivkah in Starfield?

Starfield

The Runaway Choice Guide – In the vast universe of Starfield, the decisions you make shape your character’s journey. One such complex choice arises during the “The Runaway” mission, where you are introduced to Rivkah, a young female miner in the Mars mining colony of Cydonia.

Rivkah is in a dire situation, battling a mysterious illness that urgently requires professional medical attention. Despite her father, Natan, being an executive at Reliant Medical, she cannot get help from him. She confides in you, revealing that she assaulted her father, stole his ship, and ran away from home. Now, her father has dispatched bounty hunters to track her down, forcing her to hide in Cydonia. As her health worsens, you find yourself in the middle of this family crisis, presented with three choices: persuade Natan to accept his daughter once again, eliminate Natan, or sell Rivkah out. Each choice leads to different results and rewards, and this Gamer Haul article will help you decide which option to choose!

What Happens if You Persuade Natan in Starfield?

As you converse with Natan, you’ll discover that the strained father-daughter relationship may still have a chance at reconciliation if you choose your words carefully. If you succeed in the persuasion minigame, you can convince Natan to mend his relationship with his daughter. Rivkah will be much happier than if you were to kill her father, and this is evident in your reward. Along with bonus XP from your successful persuasion, you’ll also earn upwards of 3,300 Credits, which happens to be the highest reward among the three options!

If you opt for this path and your persuasion skill is not particularly high, here are some tips:

  • Create a new save file before beginning the conversation with Natan. This way, if you fail, you can reload and try again.
  • Boost your persuasion success chance by consuming items like Hippolyta and Drink Pack: White/Red Wine or one of the many drinks from Chandra Vineyards.

What Happens If You Kill Natan in Starfield?

If, unfortunately, you fail the persuasion check, Natan refuses to see reason and remains set in his quest to apprehend Rivkah. Eliminating him becomes the only remaining “rational” choice, and it doesn’t require much effort as he is at a very low level. After dealing with him, you can loot his body and inform Rivkah that no one will pursue her anymore. However, this option is not ideal. Not only do you receive a lower payout (1,800 Credits), but you also disappoint Rivkah greatly. No matter how bitter of a relationship she might have with Natan, Rivkah is not one to go as far as to wish for her father’s death!

What Happens if You Turn Rivkah in?

Betraying Rivkah to Natan is arguably the simplest way to complete this quest. During your conversation with Natan, you can immediately disclose his daughter’s whereabouts. This concludes the interaction, and you will be prompted to return to Rivkah in Cydonia. However, when you reach Mars, Rivkah is no longer there.

Instead, you’ll need to speak with Trevor, Rivkah’s boss. Trevor will explain that Rivkah was a wanted criminal, and bounty hunters have apprehended her. She apparently kept cursing you as she was taken away, and her father vowed that she would face strict consequences.

As for your rewards for choosing this course of action, you receive nothing. In exchange for convenience and a quick mission completion, you gain nothing from betraying Rivkah in Starfield.
